One of the defining moments for me to recognise the importance of optimal health happened on 23 Jan 2016 when I was hospitalized for a very serious case of stroke which could have claimed my life.
I didn’t even know I was in the hospital until I woke up from my coma on 8 Feb 2016, which was slightly more than 2 weeks.
It all started with a terrible headache which caused me to lose my consciousness.
Thankfully, my mum was home to send me to the hospital with an emergency ambulance.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t be sharing my story here.
My mum told me that when I arrived at the hospital, the doctors were already dressed in surgical robe, ready to perform the operation on my brain to stop the bleeding.
Initially, my mum couldn’t decide whether she wanted me to be operated as she was afraid that the surgery may leave a permanent scar on my head.
So she consulted my brother who made the decision to have the operation done since any further delay could threaten my life.
I had a lot of hallucinations when I was in a coma and it was kind of scary at times.
I don’t know how to explain it but it was a feeling like as though my spirit was alive but physically I am not. It was like an out of body experience. Kind of weird isn’t it? But that’s the way it is… 🙂
I hope my story has inspired you to take a closer look at your life and appreciate the body that you have.
You don’t have to go through the experience that I had in order to recognise the importance of leading an optimal life.
Thanks to the support of close friends and family members, I regained the courage to nurse myself well and move on with my life since I still have a long way to go.
Therefore, I worked hard at regaining my health and was discharged from the hospital after a month’s stay.
The doctors were surprised by my fast recovery and encouraged me to do something worthwhile with my life since I have been given a second chance.
That’s where I got the inspiration to start this website to help people lead optimal lives.
I like to attend the Monthly Breath Meditation Meetup in Singapore at Botanic Gardens. It allows me to spend some quiet time with myself to rejuvenate my soul. You can check it here. If fate allows, we shall meet. 🙂
