LG 55LW5600 VS Samsung UN55D8000

In terms of screen uniformity, LG is definitely better than Samsung. However, it can be better when it comes to black levels. In terms of internet and web functions, both TVs are equally matched. Therefore, there is no issue in that respect.

The only major difference between both TVs is the 3D technology involved. The LG 55LW5600 uses passive 3D while the Samsung UN55D8000 uses active-shutter 3D which has a stronger resolution. Both have their own set of pros and cons.

Therefore, it really depends on your requirements and budget. Alternatively, if you want a more affordable TV, the LG one should fit the bill. The LG set costs approximately US$2400 while the Samsung set costs approximately US$3600.

So which TV should you choose? If screen uniformity and price are a big issue to you, go for the LG one. If not, the Samsung one is just as good.

 

Customer Reviews

User reviews of the LG Infinia 55LW5600 are largely positive except for a few of them who find the speakers a little soft. Hence, if sound is of major importance to you, you can get a strong portable speaker to complement it. Remember to keep your child six feet away from the TV to protect their eyes from the strong 3D graphics though.

Our Recommendation

All in all, this is definitely a 3D TV that is worth buying. The LG TV is available in 120 Hz or 240 Hz. If you don’t watch a lot of fast-action sports, the 120 Hz model is sufficient since it is US$300 cheaper. On the other hand, if you like to watch a lot of fast action entertainment programs or sports and have money to spare, the 240 Hz would be ideal.
